This week’s Festive Friday make kind of relies on what has become a go-to design when I want to use ephemera, but lack the brain power to be creative and innovative! Ha!
I love using a postage collage style background and then just adding lots of bits and pieces here and there.
This time, the ephemera is from the Oh Joyous Day collection by Rosie’s Studio.

It includes a lot of wider pieces like this gingerbread house, which I desperately wanted to use. This way, with the Postage Stamps Cover die and matching stencil from The Stamp Market, I could easily divide the space on the card.
I started out blending 4 shades of aqua blue ink on the cover die and giving it a wintry splatter of white ink.
Then I sat and went through all the ephemera in the pack (you get 2 of each element) and pulled out bits and pieces that would work together.
Once I’d made my selection, I positioned them over the background and took a photo of their placement.
Then I added the airmail border to my card blank with the Postage Collage Coloring stencil in Blush and Bubblegum ink.
I added cardstock scraps behind some of the ephemera to add a little dimension. I also used my gold Posca pen to draw on the thread for the baubles. It’s a really nice match for the gold tones used in foiled elements.
Once everything was in place, I completed the look with a sentiment from the Tagged Elegance set.
