For this week’s Festive Friday, I enjoyed a bit of a die-cutting marathon!
I picked up the Envelope of Wonder and the Christmas Wonder add-on set from Spellbinders in one of their sales a few months ago.
Well, the time finally came to have a good play.

I’m afraid I won’t be listing cardstock shades for this project, as a lot of the card I used was simply from my scraps.
But, in case it helps, here’s the “recipe” of what I cut and used:
Envelope of Wonder set:
- All the envelope pieces (base cut twice to create a scored card)
- 3 x eucalyptus-like branches
- 2 x long narrow leaves
Christmas of Wonder set:
- 2 x poinsettias + 4 x large holly leaves in mid-green
- 4 x large holly leaves in dark green + 2 berry clusters
- 6 x large holly leaves in light green (for filler)
- 2 x candy canes with bows
- 2 x candies
- 2 x pine cones with small holly leaves + berry clusters
- 1 x gingerbread man
- 1 x bell with bow
- 1 x gift with bow
One of the pieces I cut for the envelope base was cut from stripey paper in the Snow & Cocoa collection from Crate Paper. It provided some nice contrast and definition to the lip of the envelope.
This project was one of the rare occasions when I deployed my foam tape rather than layering up elements with scraps of cardstock. It was just cleaner and easier to add the pop this way, so that I could slide elements behind to fill out the sparse areas.
Once my envelope was filled, I stamped a sentiment from Waffle Flower on a tag in my scraps bowl, with a bit of twine to finish off the look.

This die set combo definitely isn’t for the faint of heart, but the Christmas Wonder set has a lot of handy elements in it that would fit on postage collage or curio style projects. In fact, I’m looking forward to giving that idea a go at some point!
But I need a little recovery time from all the fiddly bits!
I also made a custom envelope for this card with my WRMK punch board rather than mounting it on a 5×7 card base. I used the trick of creating a scored hinge to add a “back” to the front panel so that this card can stand up, and I can write a greeting inside easily.
I have to admit that I prefer the look of it as a stand-up shaped card, rather than adding it to a larger base that would have a lot of white space that needs filling.
And that’s it, I think!
Until next time, happy crafting!
