We recently learned of the sad and tragic passing of a wonderful person who brought together so many of us in our crafting circle near and far. A circle that started almost 25 years ago and grew over the years.
It’s still hard to believe she is no longer with us, and we are all truly devastated at this news. We all thought we had more time, would see each other again if not soon, then at least within the year… but alas no.
Not too long ago, an old gentleman asked me out of the blue whether I had any regrets. He himself was struggling with caring for his wife who has dementia.
I honestly didn’t know how to answer. I couldn’t think of any specific “regrets” right on the spot that would have been appropriate to share in that discussion.
We all have some “what ifs” circling in our minds, but regrets I tend not to dwell on.
But now I do have a concrete regret. I regret not being at that last crafty weekend away in October, and the only one I’ve ever missed, where we would have all been together one last time.
If nothing else, it’s a reminder to us all to embrace the opportunities to get together whenever possible. x

For my sympathy card, I used the beautiful Best Bouquet Details dies with various shades or purple for the flower on a C9 Artichoke base.
I used Spellbinders Fog cardstock for the background, cut with the largest A2 Stitched Scallops die and positioned the bouquet on it in my Misti to get the layout right for my sentiment.
I’ve used the lovely Big Day sentiment sets from Waltzing Mouse Stamps with this combination before, and the fancy lettering looks so beautiful in those sets. But the Sketched Flowers sentiments from Simon Says Stamp are another pretty option. I really should use them more, especially with these flower dies.
To finish the card, I added a light splattering of light gold watercolour over the assembled panel and mounted it on my cardbase.
I’m sharing his post on the day of the funeral. A number of us from our crafty circle have planned to attend.
Crafty get-togethers will never be quite the same again. But I’m sure that at the next one and beyond we’ll be raising a cheeky slice of cake in our friend’s honour and recalling many of the happy memories and exploits we all shared. And whenever anyone complains about their (Herma) tape runner getting clogged up AGAIN, we’ll all chuckle remembering who had the biggest love-hate relationship with that scrapbooking tool! x
