2016 card challenge – February Christmas card

Just popping in quickly to share the card I made for this month’s Christmas prompt which went along the lines of this: Pinterest pin

All those lush greens got me thinking about a technique video I had seen last year by Dawn at WPlus9 – which essentially also sold the stamp set for me. As really, I didn’t need more “boughs” for Christmas cards, but well, the script in the greeting and the tutorial in this video below compelled me!

So, now that I have the Gansai Tambi paints I thought it was about time to give it ago! My first attempt was going well until the gold paint splattering and at first it wasn’t splattering at all, then a few tries later and 1 splatter covered the ENTIRE card…gaaaah!

Card | WPlus9 Holiday Boughs

Paper: Ranger Watercolour paper, MME
Stamps: WPlus9
Die: Lil’ Inker Designs
Embossing powder: Ranger Liquid Platinum
Other: Gansai Tambi watercolour paints

Before creating this card I first cut the stitched rectangle from the watercolour paper and used the stitches as a guide for applying the masking tape to hold it in place. I also wanted to make a portrait card and I quite like how the greeting goes just past the stitches.

I managed to get a photo where the two gold tones are nicely contrasted. Really like the champagne gold of that Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

But yes, all those lovely greens! I will definitely try stamping with my watercolour paints again, hopefully there will be better control of those gold splatters next time though!

Great card! I recently purchased this die set so your card caught my eye. Wish I could create with those…
