This week over on the Daring Cardmakers blog it was my turn to set the challenge, and well I wanted to go with something that would also inspire me to make some progress with my rather lacking Christmas card production!
I needed the perfect excuse to use the lovely Distress Oxide releases I’ve invested in this year so blended backgrounds were the theme!
I wanted to keep things simple, but also make a few cards at the same time:
They all needed to be flat for posting but still interesting.
Dies: Concord & 9th – Christmas Cottage
Stamp: Lil’ Inker Designs – All the Christmas You’ll Ever Need
Other: Distress Oxides, white glitter paper, MISTI, white acrylic paint
I used a mix of Distress Oxides blended onto Bristol smooth cardstock – the inks blend so nicely on this cardstock and it has become my favourite for ink blending techniques, as I find Distress Ink in general dries too quickly into Neenah cardstock so you just can’t blend it out that well, whereas the Bristol cardstock has a nice smooth coating that lets you move that ink around more.
All I needed to add were some flicks of white acrylic paint with a toothbrush for snow.
I paired the backgrounds I’d made with the fab Christmas Cottage dies from Concord & 9th – you just need white cardstock and the dies do all the magic for you. For a bit of extra bling, I cut the snowy roof from white glitter paper.
And of course my MISTI was deployed to get that large sentiment from Lil’ Inker Designs perfectly aligned and stamped.
So, four more cards added to the tin!
