But it’s not been an easy task to photograph the results.
After a week of constant sun, we’re now battling with cloudy grey skies for most of the day.
All I can say is this card looks so much more vibrant and sharp in real life. 😉
Like my previous water colour experiments, I’ve once again resorted to a heat embossed background stamp and this time coloured the pretty peonies with Distress Oxide and regular Distress Inks:

A few new additions to my stamp and die library were used on this card – we have the Pretty Peonies Background stamp, but also the bold and clean Lovely Labels from The Stamp Market.
And as has become typical for me, I’ve finished off the look with a tiny sentiment from the Tiny Words Birthday set by Simon Says Stamp.
I’ll be tagging this card for the Simon Says Stamp Watercolour challenge over on Instagram. I think next time I’ll just use regular Distress Inks for the watercolouring, I didn’t get the vibrant results I’ve seen others achieve with the Oxides. The lighter tones of pink definitely look more washed out.
But I was happy to find a perfect colour match to stamp the frame and main greeting in my collection of Altenew ink cubes. 🙂
