Over on the Daring Cardmakers blog Ruth has challenged us to use items we already have about the house that could be repurposed on a card project.
I’ve been inspired this week by all the #chasetherainbow projects being shared on social media – kids painting rainbows to put up in their windows, knitters and sewers creating rainbow banners to display, and well here’s my own little rainbow to add to the mix.
And as for my recycled item?
It’s the brown packing paper from a recent Photoboards order – the photoboard in question appears in the shot too!
Stamp: Hello Bluebird – Rainbow Script
Dies: The Stamp Market – Dotted Rainbow, The Stamp Market – Jumbo Tag, Lawn Fawn – Spring Showers, Lawn Fawn – Hearts
So to start with, I cut a piece of the brown paper and mounted it on white card, so I could die cut it nicely with the jumbo tag and rainbow dies.
I then added a very apt sentiment from a recent stamp set purchase from Hello Bluebird. So grateful I got that set when I did, it contains so many great sentiments that go well with rainbow-themed cards – I’ve made quite a few this year and expect I’ll be making more!
I then spent some time stitching the rainbow colours – a very mindful activity at the moment and I’m glad I have this die and another that will give me some chance to stitch on card projects, not just my cross stitch WIPs.
I added little stitched clouds from Lawn Fawn, and remembered I had some tiny heart dies somewhere (another Lawn Fawn set) and stamped Lawn Fawn Lemonade, Bubblegum, and Merman ink onto white card before cutting out these hearts.
I mounted the tag on Aqua Mist cardstock from PTI (still rationing this stuff!) and the little yellow bit around the punched hole is from the Hero Arts cardstock sampler – it’s called Canary.
Finally, a few sparkly sequins to finish off. 🙂
