Joanne has a lovely challenge for us over on the Daring Cardmakers blog – to make a card featuring roses.
Well, it was a good opportunity to dig out some older stash and combine it with some of the items I bought a month or so ago in the Spellbinders sale.
Paper: Basic Grey – Hillside (r)
Stamps: Spellbinders – Sending You (r), The Stamp Market – Handpainted Rose (r)

I pulled some papers from Basic Grey’s Hillside collection to use as the background to the Handpainted Rose set from The Stamp Market.
By trial and error, I found that the best way to use the Handpainted Rose set is to use the same shade of ink for each of the layering steps. Otherwise, there’s too much of a clash between the layers. I’ve now written myself a note as a reminder and popped it in the storage pocket ready for the next time I use this set.
To add a bit of interest, I used the Fluted Classics Squares dies to cut the white and green papers from the Hillside collection.
The Sending You sentiments from Spellbinders are stamped on white cardstock in black and slate grey ink.
I didn’t realise until I’d finished gluing all the elements down that I’d glued them upside down on my card base. It’s a good deal I’d trimmed down the card base in the first place, as I just trimmed off the card front and stuck it down on a full-sized square card base.
Disaster averted!
