There’s a new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog from Shabneez this week.
She has challenged us to feature garden bugs on our cards, and one of the visitors to my garden (although sadly fewer this year) is the humble bee.

I was looking for a way to feature the large Honey Bee die from The Greetery on my card, and thought about creating a floral background using the Always in Bloom stencils and stamps.
Looking for colour inspiration, I turned to the Look Book for this set on The Greetery website, and a particular layout caught my eye. I really should have paid more attention to the flowers so that I didn’t have 4 pink blooms in one row. But I’ll know for next time.
I used pencils to add additional details to the leaves and flowers, and then water coloured the body of the bee and inked the wings.
I used a small sentiment from Hello Bluebird and mounted the finished card on a powdery blue shade of cardstock. Slowly, but surely, some of those 12×12 sheets of textured cardstock are getting put to use on card projects.
