This week’s Festive Friday card is basically the excuse I needed to put a festive take on the Classic Tales die set from Spellbinders.
Stamp: Waffle Flower – Family Christmas

First up, here’s a list of the Spellbinders ColorWheel shades I’ve used:
- Bellini

- Wild Berry
- Blush

I also used Concord & 9th Evergreen for the fir trees and the darker green on the book spine, and Clover for the leafy elements.
I started out by adding a stitched outline to the Bellini card base with my trusty Silly Stitched dies.
I had a little think about what wintry trees I could use in place of the leafy ones in the Classic Tales set, and thought immediately of the Frosty Pine dies from The Greetery, as they also include the cuts to help you add snowy details to the branches.
Then it was time to get cutting all the rest of the elements to build the book stack.
I needed a little finishing touch to that pink book spine, and found the little heart in the Over the Rooftops set was a perfect match.
As you can see, I went a bit overboard with the white splatter – so much for using an acrylic block for more directional splatter! Well, it ended up all over the place in big blobs. But I suppose it adds to the look!
Finally, I selected a narrow sentiment from Waffle Flower’s Family Christmas set that fit nicely on the green spine.
And there we go, card complete!
