Happy Festive Friday!

Boy, this week’s card has been a labour of love – made on the hottest day of the year so far. Absolutely sweltering in the 30°C temperatures of my office.

I basically melted more than the glittery snow caps of these mountains…

So this week, it’s the return of a good old festive mash up!

I wanted to build a wintry little scene inside the Christmas Cloche die from Concord & 9th using a mix of tiny dies.

I started out cutting the outer cloche die from white cardstock and blending Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink over it to use as the base to this scene.

Then I grabbed my handy accordion wallets of cardstock scraps from Spellbinders ColorWheel and C9 cardstock to cut the following:

• Mountains: Spellbinders Fog with Memory Box Majestic Glitter card
• Cable cars: Lawn Fawn Metallic Silver, C9 Dove, Black, Spellbinders Pomegranate
• Trees: C9 Clover
• Houses: Spellbinders Tutu, Mint, Orchid, Anchor, Truffle, with Majestic Glitter card
• Cloche elements: C9 Nutmeg, Seaglass, Wild Berry, Fern, Lawn Fawn Metallic Gold

I wanted to finally use some of the Winter View dies from Waffle Flower for this scene. And if you have the Christmas Cloche set, one of my top tips is that the die that is supposed to act as a highlight on the glass dome actually doubles up nicely as a cable between the towers.

I love the little houses in the Winter View set, but I needed something a little smaller, so out came my trusty Stitched Village dies from Memory Box, which also have dies to cut the snow for the roofs. To add a glow to the windows, I used a gold Posca paint pen. I also brought in some narrow pine trees from the Essentials by Ellen Home & Hearth die set. For such a small set, I sure have found it useful over the years for the folksy stars, hearts, trees, and little houses.

Rather than get my paints out in this weather to add snowy splatter, I instead opted for a white Posca paint pen to do the job. And my silver Posca pen added some great metallic detail to the bigger cable car.

Once my sentiment from the Christmas Cloche set was stamped on the base, I assembled everything and added it to the card base I’d run through with the So Stylish cover plate from Lil’ Inker Designs.
