Merry & Bright | The Greetery StencilScapes Winter

As December continues to rush by, I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a project that allows you to slow down and just enjoy the creative process.

Once again, I’m focussing on some older products from The Greetery, because they are a real staple of my Christmas cardmaking each year and just so lovely to use.

Products featured today:

  • The Greetery | StencilScapes Winter stencils
  • The Greetery | Ornament Box Top Vertical stamp and dies
  • More supplies linked in the supply list at the bottom of this post

Card | The Greetery StencilScapes Winter and Ornament Box Vertical

For whatever reason, I find the pairing of the StencilScapes Winter layering stencils and the Vertical Ornament Box stamp and die to be very zen.

Whatever colour palette I use for the 6 stencil layers, that Ornament Box really frames the scene beautifully and doesn’t require anything else.

Sure, you can go in with glitter or add even more dimension by throwing the coordinating Frosty Pines dies into the mix, but sometimes keeping it simple is all you need.

For today’s project, I kept the colours simple, and more or less followed the illustrated guide. I’ve often used blush pink for the sky with this set, both with dye inks and oxides, but I embraced the cool blues today.

One tip I need to remember myself, is to give the panel a quick blast with the heat gun at the end of stencil step 4 before the brown layer is added. I forgot to do that, and the area around the brown tree wasn’t quite dry enough for this heavy-handed inker!

But it’s no big deal, as once that Ornament Box frame was added, it totally lifted the scene and really brought it to life.

There are more dies in the Ornament Box set to cut out the banner and a couple more details, but I was happy to end my zen crafting session there.

Until next time, happy crafting!
