Just popping on to share a little real-life update.
This time last week, I woke up with a left arm that wouldn’t move properly, and I had to use my right hand to put my left arm where I wanted it. Not great for doing anything as simple as washing your face or getting dressed.
Plus, it was more than a little painful, shall we say…
Long story short, I managed to get an appointment with the GP later in the week after things got worse by Tuesday evening. By the time my appointment rolled around, I had regained some mobility (the alternating application of Voltarol and turmeric massage oil helped a lot – especially at night), but things still weren’t right. I was really fearing it might be the start of frozen shoulder, but luckily it looks like painful/restricted arc in this case.
I’ve managed to rest my arm a fair amount and mobility has been better. But I have a follow-up appointment with the musculoskeletal clinic later this week, so will see where I go from there – to hopefully improve the current situation and prevent it from worsening.
Back in September 2023 I had cubital issues in the same arm, and that didn’t really improve until I had nerve testing at the hospital the following year when they zapped some powerful currents down the affected nerves that kind of reset them a little. I still have numbness and discomfort from the cubital stuff in my left pinky finger especially, but there was no further treatment pathway.
So, perhaps it’s linked, perhaps it isn’t. Perhaps I’m just prone to impingement on that side. But I had to take things easier last week, hence no Festive Friday.
Not the best start to February!
But the good news is that yesterday was a much better day, I felt almost like my normal self and managed some crafting without overdoing it – and yay for being able to wash my hair, put a bra on, and all that jazz!
When the grey clouds clear and natural light returns, I’ll hopefully be able to get some photos and share what I made in due course.
Until then, onwards and upwards! x
