One of my great loves (or guilty pleasures) as a papercrafter has always been patterned paper.
At least, that was the case until paper by the sheet became so expensive here in the UK and then collections from my favourite brands became scarcer and scarcer.
But last year I managed to get a few items from the Bea Valint Poppy and Pear collection from American Crafts while on sale, so it was about time I got crafty with them!

This collection appealed for the embroidery theme and downright prettiness for cards of all occasions.
In addition to a handful of 12×12 sheets of paper, I also managed to snag the ephemera pack, which includes paper and vellum ephemera.
I’ve never been a massive fan of the vellum and acetate pieces in these packs from AC, as I never manage to use them successfully on cards.
But the vellum in this pack includes a few darker items (including the tree used here) that can be stuck down relatively easily without seeing the adhesive.

When I saw the trio of shop buildings in the ephemera pack, I immediately thought of pairing them with the Classic Tales die set from Spellbinders.
I also used the book spine dies in the set to cut pretty spines from patterned paper too.
And to complete the embroidered look, the A2 background is cut with the Heritage Rectangle Frames set from Memory Box – with its subtle stitched border.
To finish off the little scene, I cut sentiments from Avery Elle and Simon Says Stamp to look like book titles.
There are two more buildings in the ephemera pack that I think I will be giving the same treatment down the line…
Until next time, happy crafting!
