I’m back in the land of cardmaking today to share my project for this week’s “Welcome yo my Galaxy!” challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog.
The challenge is to create a galaxy background or to use galaxy elements and well, I’ve really been wanting to have a go at creating a space background using some of the more recent additions to my Distress Ink collection.
I finally have Black Soot in my collection, which is a real essential for this look!
Here’s my project:

Other: sequins, Distress inks, blending products, 3D foam tape, white embossing powder, white misting spray
I started off by blending Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves in opposite corners of the watercolour base. Then I brought them together with Mermaid Lagoon and Broken China adding in more of the pink and purple tones as necessary and then finally I went to town with Black Soot over most of the colour base. Once dry I sprayed a fine mist of water over as well as sprinkling water for bigger droplets. Then for a final starry look I used some white Mister Huey’s spray mist.
The Rocket is from an old My Cute Stamps set that is my one space-related stamp set in my collection. It comes in handy when needed! Mermaid Lawn Fawn and Hippo inks look lovely stamped on the Neenah 80 lb cardstock.
The sentiment is heat embossed on black cardstock then cut with my ever faithful Fishtail Flags die set from My Favorite Things.
And naturally there needed to be some stellar sparkle in the form of sparkly clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
