This week’s Daring Cardmakers challenge comes from Svenja, and we’re going back – Back to black!
I rarely use black as a prominent colour, but I do love it for blackboard style backgrounds and also when someone’s designed striking papers on black.
Like say Basic Grey, back in the day!
Paper: Basic Grey – Juniper Berry (r)

So first step – the greeting. I stamped this on some black patterned paper from Simple Stories and heat embossed te sentiment in white. To really get that blackboard look I blended Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges.
I needed a pop of colour to get it to stand out further, so I used some pink cardstock in my stash but matched the pink in the paper better by blending Lawn Fawn raspberry around the edges of the circle mat.
Then it was time to cut lots and lots of pine branches from the Flora and Fauna die. I had hoped to do this in my sidekick, but the die needed the precision plate on my Big Shot and it cut fine when fed in diagonally. 🙂
I created a wreath behind the sentiments, adding fussy cut pine cones stamped with the Mini pine branch stamp set and finally used my new inks from The Stamp Market to add a festive bow.
Another Christmas card for the box. 🙂
