DCM – Natural, Gold & White – Handmade by Natty

This week’s Daring Cardmakers Countdown to Christmas challenge focuses on a really classic look for winter and the festive season.

You can make any project, but it must feature natural, gold and white as the colour palette.

I had a specific idea in mind of stamping white on kraft and well, I’m rather pleased with how it turned out (despite the poor natural light conditions this time of year):

I started off stamping the SSS Pinecone Background on Neenah desert storm cardstock and embossing in white. Wow is this a cool background stamp. It stamps very nicely and I can see it being a great option for tone-on-tone looks as well as heat embossing.

For my sentiment I used gold and black embossing powders with The Stamp Market Merry & Bright set on cream cardstock.

I used blush ink for the frame for a very subtle hint of colour – I think that contrast really brings out the other colours too.

The winter foliage is cut from off cuts of the desert storm cardstock which I then painted here and there with Hero Arts white liquid watercolour and dabbed with glitter.

Finally, when everything was dry I assembled my card and used some gold bells I’d kept from Easter Lindt rabbits to tie onto the card.

I have another pinecone panel that I stamped at the same time and need to come up with a project for it.

I’m thinking my new WPlus9 winter release may get used. 😉
