Lucky for Some | Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Good morning!

This week’s Daring Cardmakers challenge comes from Joanne and is a take on two things – the luck of the Irish (with St. Patrick’s Day coming up next week) and Friday the 13th being unlucky for some…

So, our cards this week need to feature some sort of lucky element! 😀

And boy is there a variety to choose from out there – lots of things are considered lucky in different countries (and sometimes unlucky in others!).

I scoured the list on Wikipedia and found that Barn Stars are considered to be lucky in the US.

Well, this was too good an opportunity to pass up, as I love a dimensional star and I have a new die from Poppy Stamps that should make this easier:

Paper: Crate Paper – Party Day (r)
Stamps: Memory Box – Best Life Typewriter Sentiments
Dies: Poppy Stamps – Folk Star, MFT – Sentiment Strips 2, PTI – Seeing Stars

To showcase the barn star I used a larger star die from PTI to create an aperture in the patterned paper. It was a good fit!

The typed Memory Box sentiment also fit nicely on a sentiment strip from MFT. It’s been nice playing with some of my older supplies, including that unending stockpile of 6×6 paper pads!

I need to get more birthday cards made pronto as my card basket is really depleted on that front. This one works as a nice card for a boy/guy so that’s handy!

Make sure you check out the wonderfully lucky cards from the rest of the design team over on the blog here.

Happy crafting!
