This week’s Daring Cardmakers challenge definitely combines two of my favourite design elements: stripes and dots.

The perfect excuse to get the inks and stamps out and have a little fun!

For my card I made my own stripey DIY background with the Simply Stripes stamp set from The Stamp Market. The stripes are extra long to enable you to create bendy stripes or diagonal stripes that will cover an A2 panel from corner to corner.

I used the thinnest stripe in the set for my background and selected the following eleven colours of ink:

• Lawn Fawn – Guava
• PTI – Sweet Blush
• Lawn Fawn – Carrot
• Altenew – Citrus Burst
• PTI – New Leaf
• Altenew – Emerald
• Lawn Fawn – Kiddie Pool
• Lawn Fawn – Merman
• PTI – Lavender Moon
• PTI – Hibiscus Burst

I just repeated the lines of ink, stamping with my Misti and using a Cricut mat to hold the panel in place. I repositioned the A2 cardstock panel a couple of times in the Misti and used an acrylic block for the lines nearer the corners.

I cut the finished panel with the large scallop frame from the All Prettied Up set by Mama Elephant.

For the main focus of my card, I stamped and cut the mini and balloons from the So Mini Hellos set by The Stamp Market, using the Sea Glass and Tropic Teal shades to fill in the balloons.

The mini Scalloped Frame die set is a great one for providing a focal point. I cut the larger frame several times from white cardstock and layered the die cuts up, adding one cut from white glitter paper as the top layer.

From the left-over cardstock I stamped the Confetti Background stamp in Altenew Blush pink ink and then cut it with the smaller tag die in the Scalloped Frame set to use as the background for the car.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment and added sequins for extra sparkle.

I can definitely see myself making another striped background in this way but next time perhaps using the four ink shades in Altenew colour sets… maybe monochromatic aqua tones for a summery ocean theme. My imagination is already whirring away…
