Well, when I heard the words Polaroid I already knew what I was going to use…

I have a very versatile instant camera style frame from Lil’ Inker Designs that I bought years ago. It has been a staple of my cardmaking for so long and I love using it to showcase the focus of a card, this time a retro style camera chipboard element from a very old Crate Paper collection. I cut it from the dark grey Concord & 9th cardstock sheet I’d used for doing my swatching and popped it up on 4 or so white cardstock cuts of the same die for dimension.
I wanted to reflect the colours from the background papers in the sentiment somehow, so reached for my bag of The Stamp Market cardstock snippets which I also have left over from creating swatches. These scraps are too precious to throw away when they can easily be used to die-cut letters and little elements like the garland (which is strung together on silver thread – making it very easy to attach and position the garland accordingly on a card).
I also remembered the trick of using Post-it tape to transfer your perfectly laid out die-cut letters from your grid mat onto your project, so they all get glued down in the right place. Makes life so much easier, especially for those of us who struggle to follow a straight line. 😉
Finally, I stamped the sentiment on a pre-cut skinny strip – I haven’t snipped the individual strips apart on this die, so I usually run it through when I run out of one of the strips that I need and keep the extras in the storage pocket ready to be used.
I still needed a pop of colour and something to add dimension to the camera. So I reached for some aqua Nuvo drops for the sentiment strip and good old Glossy Accents for the dark sections of the camera. 🙂
