Well, after my month-long hiatus from cardmaking in general, I’m back (hopefully) creating regular cards for the Daring Cardmakers challenge. 🙂
And with it being the first Friday of a new month we’ve got a lovely elemental inspiration challenge to enjoy:
And here’s what I made:

So for my elements I went with the blue and white colour scheme (with a touch of woodgrain neutral for good measure), a Christmas tree, and Joy as my sentiment.
The blue that caught my attention was the very vibrant bauble at the top of the tree as it reminded me of the Cobalt blue in The Stamp Market palette. So I cut a piece of that to run through my Big Shot with the woodgrain cover-up die and inked around the edges with Blue Jay ink from Lawn Fawn, which is a touch darker and provided a nice contrast.
It wouldn’t be Christmas card season without me using the Holly Jolly dies from Lil’ Inker Designs to create a 3D Christmas tree. It almost looks like the tree is in a snow globe. The Grounding Elements dies from MFT are great for that look. And to provide a bit of relief from all that white I cut one of these grounding elements from pale rose cardstock and added a little Stickles for frosty glitz.
The star on the tree is cut from glitter paper as is the bow, while the foliage and Joy sentiment are cut from white cardstock.
It’s just a nice way to create a little contrast and interest. 🙂
