Morning!

Well, the time has arrived for a brand-new prompt.

And with summer on the way out, certain autumnal themes are featured in the image:

09 - September pinspiration{Pinterest pin}

The focus colour for September is: Orange

To get you started, here are a few ideas that came to mind:

  • Geometric/retro pattern – that stem design from Orla Kiely has appeared in quite a few paper collections, but it's also something you can recreate using petal/leaf builder stamps.
  • Outline shapes/dies – the faceted heart reminds me of dies that cut an outline of say a leaf, flower, or geometric shape where the cut-out pieces can be pieced back in. So if you cut the die from several colours of cardstock/paper you could do multiples of the same design.
  • Resin embellishments – resin flowers (like those on the comb) were a big trend not so long ago. Even fancy buttons would do the job of creating an embellishment cluster, or just something to glam up a bow/tied twine.
  • Woodland friends – foxes, squirrels, hares, owls, you name it, that creature has probably been featured in a stamp set, die, or scrapbook collection.
  • Go big with the bow – the bow on the dress makes me think of decorative belly bands on cards, plus dies for creating fancy bows from cardstock. Or, if you want the real deal, dig about in your ribbon supplies for something that will do the job.
  • Leaves – so many possibilities with leaf dies and stamps – creating wreath arrangements in different colours, accents for embellishments, apertures for greetings of shaker cards.
  • Go freestyle – the chevron edge on the planter looks like something you could hand draw, so why not include a little doodling?
  • Chalkboard effect – white embossing on black and using a white pencil to add shading and detail is a great way to replicate chalkboard lettering. Or perhaps you have some word art stamps where the background is solid and the lettering is the negative impression.
  • Back to school/teacher theme – apples, books, pencils, some really fun elements to play with here.
  • Natural materials – the wooden arrow made me think of wood embellishments and other natural materials like twine, cork, fabric, etc. that could be incorporated in your card design. That would definitely give it an autumnal feel!
  • Linear background stamps – heat embossing an outline pattern in gold/silver/white on coloured cardstock would be a great background to a clean and simple card.
  • Pinwheel – the arrangement of the colours in the faceted heart reminds me of a pinwheel. Whether a 3D pinwheel or a 2D representation using different coloured die-cut/stamped triangles, this could be a great way to use up some cardstock scraps. You could even just replicate that faceted heart with punched out triangles.
  • Stay Golden – does someone have a golden anniversary to celebrate? Well, here's the perfect theme for your car…
