It’s the first Friday of 2023, so we have a brand-new elemental inspiration challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog with this image chosen by Shabneez as our inspiration:
Here’s my take, inspired by the colour palette, floral/foliage elements, and curved lines:

I don’t know why making non-festive cards seems to pose such a problem for me in January, it’s as though I have totally forgotten how to glue bits of paper and card together and make anything that doesn’t have a Christmas tree on it!
But here we are, the struggle is real and will hopefully be overcome soon!
My original plan was to go big with a blue floral print for the background, but I didn’t realise I’d end up covering so much of it up later!
I was really inspired by that mustard shade with the blue tone, while I wait for the new Dijon ink (and other new shades) from The Stamp Market to reach these shores, I used a combination of Curry and No. 2 Pencil ink shades for the Bloom sentiment in the Always in Bloom set from The Greetery.
I really should have blasted the Curry ink with a heat gun before stamping the detail image for the lettering, as it kind of blended into the background. Sigh.
Next, I cut and stamped the floral elements to add around my sentiment and cut the crimped circle tag from Vintage White cardstock and a larger crimped circle from Rusty cardstock that I then added Rusty ink to with a blending brush.
I used some of my pre-Christmas Greetery purchases to jazz up the tag with the Eucalyptus branch and loopy bow.
And there we go, the first card of 2023 done!
Here’s to easier cardmaking in the future now that that one’s out of the way. lol
