It’s time for another new challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog, and Miri has a great one for us: we need to use a brand new craft supply or one that has been lingering in our stash unused.
Well, before Christmas crafting went into full swing I’d purchased the Picked Posies die set from Concord & 9th and hadn’t managed to use it until this challenge came about.
The perfect opportunity to give it a first outing. 🙂
Stamp: Hello Bluebird – Typed Everyday
Dies: Concord & 9th – Picked Posies, The Greetery – Crimped Frame
I started out by cutting the main florals from existing cut pieces of cardstock I had in my stash from Concord & 9th and The Stamp Market.
I was digging the blue and green tones with a pop of pink for those big florals, and I happened to find a Crimped Rectangle panel ready cut in amongst the cardstock that would really make those colours pop.
I really like the folksy look of these posies, they remind me a bit of Polish papercut florals and also one of my very first Concord & 9th purchases, the Flourish stamp set.
Anyway, once everything was cut and assembled and I’d stamped the typed sentiment onto the banner, I arranged all the elements on the panel and used Press ‘n’ Seal to hold everything so that I could glue the elements in place, one layer at a time.
As a finishing touch, I added a few sequins to the background and an enamel dot to the banner.
