I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with the first of my projects from the new La Dolce Vita collection by The Greetery.

This release is packed with Italian and Mediterranean vibes, and one of the sets I especially loved was the Canned die set (along with its smaller sibling, Canned Lite).

I also absolutely loved the style and punny-ness of the Something Fishy Sentiments set that works so perfectly with the sardines and other fishy supplies.

So for this first outing, I was simply exploring how to put things together and what other supplies I could pull in to decorate this dimensional can-shaped card.

I actually started out by cutting the sardines from both the Canned and Canned Lite die sets so that I could colour them with watercolours.

Then it was time to cut and assemble the can.

The Canned die set allows for various different looks, but I went with a can that had been slightly rolled back. I also managed to create some dimension by layering up the rim of the can and using the octagonal die to create the can opening. This also provided an easy way to add a golden watercolour background inside the can.

I added decorative details from the Ciao Bella Borders set at the top corners of the blue can, but also used that same set to create the decorative elements for the bottom half of the can.

I love the artwork and fonts in the Something Fishy Sentiments set, they really bring the details to life. I stamped some of them tone-on-tone on the light blue Ciao Bella Borders label as well as on the side of the tin and as the main sentiments to this card.

Once everything was cut and stamped it was just a matter of assembling everything on the card base I’d also cut out with the main outline die in the Canned set.

I look forward to creating other looks with the Canned die, including incorporating the Coastal Cuttings and Citrus Fields die sets  – so lots of colour options to choose from!
