Well, technically this card should fall into the category of Santa Saturdays… alas I didn’t manage to get my Festive Friday card made in time yesterday. But here’s hoping this jolly number makes up for it!

This week’s plan was to create a festive card featuring the Canned Lite mini die set from The Greetery as a hanging ornament on a tree branch. Simple right?
Well, as you can see from the supply list, things escalated! lol
I found that the Whittle Santa die (now retired) fit perfectly inside the can opening and created a fun little ornament, complete with stamped wavy background from The Stamp Market and a Ho Ho Ho sentiment from Flora & Fauna.
Once the can was assembled with C9 Poppy, Parsley for the side ornament detail, TSM Blush for the stamped background, I added metallic gold accents to finish off the little can.
For the pine branches I used a great set from The Greetery cut from C9 Evergreen – this also allowed me to hang the ornament on with silver thread.
The background to the branch is Bazzill Pale Rose stencilled with the Snowflake Prints stencil from The Greetery in LF Ballet Slipper ink. Subtle, but it really fills in the blank space nicely.
But things took a turn when I realised I could add a nice green frame from Spellbinders Fern cardstock in the form of the Ornament Box Top Vertical set, stamped with TSM Forest ink.
I initially cut around the edge of the box top frame, but it made the Forest ink look even darker and almost black. So, I mounted the frame on a larger piece of Spellbinders Fern cardstock and went around the edge with a gold pen to add a dotted pattern.
Finally, to bring in some more red, I cut the Bow Bookmark die from Poppy cardstock again and added it at the top.
Phew! Hopefully my card next week won’t be another Santa Saturday!
