I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a project that started out as a little experiment.

If you’re a Greetery fan, you’ve probably been picking up the wonderful Bigger Botanicals floral dies.

These stand-alone layering dies are perfectly sized to be the focal point of your card, but I had a sudden brainwave when the latest addition to the series arrived on my craft desk….

Would these die sets work with the Garden Tub die released back in 2023?

Well, there was only one way to find out!

I started out by cutting the Garden Tub and Garden Tub Filler dies from watercolour card.

I used a whole host of Distress Inks to colour the die cuts, plenty of ink blending, smooshing, and splattering.

Full disclosure: this is so out of my usual comfort zone, but I’ve had my Distress Inks for a while, and they deserve a little time in the spotlight.

Next up, I grabbed three of the Bigger Botanicals florals: the brand-new Mums florals, the Oregano set, and the Hawthorn set.

I cut these from watercolour card as well, but mainly used ink smooshing to add the first layer of colour, and then went in with my paintbrush to up the intensity, using other dye inks too to build the colour.

Once the florals were dry, I splattered them all with champagne gold paint for a little sparkle before tucking them into the Garden Tub.

Then it was time to create a fitting background.

I added texture with the Herringbone Parquet texture plate and blended it with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide, spritzed it with water, hit it with the heat gun, then went in with Wild Honey Distress Oxide around the outside.

I added ink splatter, then assembled the tub complete with florals and foliage on my card base, adding a final splatter of white paint over everything.

For the sentiment, I kept things simple with the aptly named Simple Everyday Sentiments stamped on a Shortbread Shapes Rectangle Label cut from C9 Shortbread cardstock.

For the final finishing touches, I added thin pink strips around the edge of the card and some brown-toned gems.
