This week it’s my turn to set the challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog and I’ve gone with a very feathery theme.
Yes, it’s time to feature birds on your card project and I had the perfect stamp set in mind. 😀

I managed to get the PTI Brushed Birds set via Simon Says Stamp earlier this year and wanted to use two of the little birds from this set on my card this week.
I inked them with the Lawn Fawn inks listed below – a great little 3-step layering of colours to create them.
I then turned my hand to creating a twilight background for them using Distress Oxides.
Initially my blend was far too bold when the birds were laid over it, so I lightened it with Picket Fence distress ink and then distressed it with spritzes of water.
I dried the panel with a heat gun then spritzed it with some shimmer spray, and finally used white, opalescent white, and copper watercolours to add some splatter along with some watered down Worn Lipstick splatters.
The branch is cut from Bristol paper and water coloured with Gansai Tambi paints.
Finally, I rather wonkily added my sentiment in Onyx Versafine using the Misti but failing to make sure the stamp had attached in a straight line… d’oh…
Oh well, the handmade look is certainly there. 😉
I have another set of birds and another branch ready to use on a future card, so just need to decide on an inky background colour combo.
