My nephew recently celebrated his 5th birthday, so of course I had to make a card befitting this milestone celebration!
Alas, I don’t have dinosaurs in my die family and who knows how long he is going to love dinosaurs for much longer… probably years, to be fair! But in the absence of dinosaurs of the very specific variety he loves, he’s getting a modern day dino cousin.
A crocodile!

I already had a plan in mind to use the Crocodile from the Spellbinders Hooray! It’s Your Birthday set along with his party hat accessory, and when I picked up this set in the sale I was really wanting it most for the fun scallop capsule die to create apertures and little scenes.
Well, that’s just what I did here.
I grabbed some older papers from My Mind’s Eye including the spotty paper from the Lime Twist collection (boy the quality of those papers is so beautiful to the touch, we really were spoiled back in the day), the red gingham paper from the Quite Contrary collection (which has a lovely texture to it), and a scrap of cloud paper from the Quite Contrary Jack & Jill collection too.

Those set the scene nicely, so I just needed to add some celebratory bits and pieces, as well as the personal touch with Oliver’s Stitched ABCs.
The Market Place Celebration Street includes some sentiment banners, so I cut the Happy Birthday to hang in the corner, and a set of balloons to peek out from behind the Laid Back sentiment.
And knowing how much he was looking forward to turning 5, I had to feature it somewhere on this card! So I managed to pop it on a rosette made with dies from the Hey Honeycomb Party Hat set.
And there we go! A fun little project for the birthday boy.
Until next time, happy crafting!
