Trim the Tree | Daring Cardmakers Challenge

Morning!

This week’s challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers blog is all about trees, festive or otherwise!

I decided to go a bit sparkly with mine.

Card inspiration from Handmade by Natty featuring The Stamp Market Dotted Tree

I actually had the Dotted Tree die cuts all ready to use from when I cut a load of different colours from left-over card last year.

The cool pink stitched tree is actually layered on a solid heather coloured tree for extra pop.

I stitched the pink tree with DMC metallic thread (boy will I not be trying that again in a hurry!) and gave the offset glued trees a splattering of white ink.

The background uses 3 shades of blue Distress Oxide ink, toned down with a little Picket Fence ink before it was spritzed with water, dried with the heat gun, then sprayed with Blizzard sparkly mist and given the snowy ink treatment.

Once the background panel was dry, I ran it through the Big Shot with one of the newest additions to my Greetery stash, the Deco Frame dies.

I love the cut lines in these dies and the beautiful frame that really brings the tree front and centre.

I used another of my recent Greetery purchases for the sentiment, the Christmas Time banner is stamped in Dew Drops ink, then the sentiment was just stamped over with Onyx black Versafine ink.

I added a little extra Dew Drops ink to the ends of the banners and some Stickles Star Dust glitter for a frosty look.

Finally, once my card was assembled, I added a sparkly star to the top of the tree.
