I’m back on the Seven Hills Crafts blog today with a bumper anniversary card using a fair few supplies from The Greetery!

It all started with a nugget of inspiration where I wanted to use colours inspired by the lovely pansies currently blooming in my garden pots. So a mix of purple and yellow tones, with the odd bright pink thrown in for good measure.

And I immediately thought of the Takes the Cake stamp and stencil set that features a lovely floral decoration to go on the front of the cake.

There are seven steps in the layering stencils, so plenty of scope for building colour, and the stamp set adds the leafy details plus the banner and sentiments to match.

The Takes the Cake product suite also includes coordinating dies for the cake itself (such as the cake outline, frosting, and other elements that can be used on their own), the banner, the floral details, and the cake stand.

I’ve used all of them here to build my cake, plus the Cake Pops Banners die set to create the “sticks” holding up the sentiment banner.

My tall cake deserved a larger background, so I decided to go all out on a 5×7 card – the perfect excuse to use the Shortbread Shapes Scalloped Hearts embossing folder for the C9 Eucalyptus card base.

I also found that the cake fit nicely against the large Capsule Basics dies and created a coordinating floral border on C9 Ivory card using the Rosemal Reflections stamps. I also filled in the centre of the border with the Capsule Basics stencil, adding blue ink and gold paint splatter to make the cake, and especially the ivory glitter frosting stand out more against the background.

The stamped Rosemal panel is mounted on the coordinating Capsule Basics scalloped die cut from C9 Shortbread.

Finally, to bring everything together, I cut one of the bows from the Shortbread Shapes Scalloped Hearts die set from C9 Berry Kiss cardstock to finish off the cake stand.
